WE-ER® high pressure
screw-type pipe coupling

Main characteristics - Mode of operation

WE-ER® high-pressure screw-type pipe couplings in combination with high-pressure pipes provide quick pipe connections without the use of additional tools.

The WE-ER® high-pressure screw-type pipe coupling consists of a sealing head with Perbunan sealing ring plus union nut and an external thread piece with sealing seat on the inside. In addition, two sealing rings protect the whole threaded area against environmental influences.

For joining the pipes, first the sealing head is pushed into the threaded piece; then the union nut is screwed on by hand until the borehole for taking up the safety splint pin is clear.

A conical thread with cylindrical run-out of threaded piece and union nut permits an easy fastening and unscrewing of the screw-type coupling by hand. A strike-fixing by means of striking tools is redundant. An extra bonus: No noxious noise emissions.

After inserting the safety splint pin, the connection is tight and ready for operation.

Due to the conical thread with cylindrical run-out, the thread does not only move apart in an axial, but also in a radial direction, thus providing an easy dissolving of the union nut from the threaded piece even after long operation periods.

Paste pipes are hot-dip galvanised; WE-ER® high-pressure screw-type pipe coupling parts are electro-zinc plated.

Depending on pipe system, wall thickness of pipes used and couplings are designed to stand a maximum operation pressure of 320 bar or even up to 500 bar on demand.

Dimensioning of WE-ER® high-pressure screw-type pipe couplings stands essentially higher pressures; all pipes and adapting pieces are tested under 1.5-fold operation pressures before leaving the plant.

Setting of the sealing ring inside the sealing seat is that it is in neutral phase, even in case of bending stresses occurring; problem-free detaching of the union nut is even provided in a distorted and tense state. In addition, there are so-called grease grooves inside the sealing seat; the lubricant prevents from rapid corrosion during longer operation periods.

No tools are required for mounting and disassembly; no re-tightening or adjusting is necessary even after a certain operating period. It is indispensable to insert the safety splint pin. The sealing ring is a Perbunan O-ring of adequate shore hardness; additional sealing rings encapsulate the whole threaded area, thus protecting the thread against any contaminants or impurities and corrosion.

The design of WE-ER® high-pressure screw-type pipe coupling allows for trouble-free underground exploitation, even after long operation periods.
